Moldova requires prior Civil Aviation Authority (CAA/AAC) approval to fly almost any drone, plus mandatory third-party liability insurance for anything above the small "toy" category. Chisinau, airports and the Transnistria border/administrative line are off-limits, and northern/central Moldovan airspace has repeatedly been closed on short notice in 2025–2026 because of Russian drones straying in from attacks on Ukraine.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, drones headed for Ukrainian targets have repeatedly entered Moldovan airspace, particularly in the north and near the breakaway Transnistria region, at times forcing temporary closures of parts of national airspace (most recently around 8 September 2026). Expect short-notice NOTAM restrictions and check them before any flight; flying near the Transnistrian border/administrative line is separately banned under ordinary drone rules regardless of these closures.
