- Bringing your drone in
Travellers can bring up to 2 drones for personal use. Drones under 500 g need no Form-01 but ordinary customs duty/VAT can still apply above the standard travellers' duty-free allowance. Drones of 500 g or more need the Import Technical Compliance Letter (Form-01) and SHGM registration within 3 days of entry. Drones of 500 g or more need SHGM's 'İthal Teknik Uygunluk Yazısı' (Import Technical Compliance Letter, Form-01) presented to customs, separate from flight/pilot registration. Radio-frequency compliance is usually already covered by the manufacturer's certification; check with BTK for unusual or custom-built equipment. Batteries: Carry-on only; standard lithium battery air-travel limits apply (up to 100 Wh freely, 100–160 Wh with airline approval, max 2 spares). A purely electric-powered drone's battery can attract Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) under HS heading 88.02 in some import scenarios.

Commercial use: Commercial/aerial-work operations need SHGM operator approval, the pilot certificate matching the drone's class (İHA1 and above for most professional work), and third-party liability insurance from İHA1 class upward.
